Overview

Seasalt is a Cornwall-based clothing brand with shops across the UK, hiring around 500 people a year. We originally built Seasalt Careers as a Craft CMS brochure site to tell their employer brand story. Live roles still lived elsewhere, so candidates had to move between platforms to find and apply for jobs.

As their recruitment needs grew, Seasalt asked us to expand the site into a full careers platform. We connected it to their Dayforce applicant tracking system, so employer brand and live opportunities now sit in one place.

Technical highlights

Dayforce ATS integration

A scheduled sync connects Craft CMS to Dayforce's Job Feeds API, automatically creating, updating and removing job entries as the feed changes. The integration is tolerant of temporary feed unavailability, serving cached listings rather than failing - a practical consideration for a site recruiting at scale.

Custom location mapping layer

Dayforce's UK location data presented inconsistencies - an incomplete counties list meant some roles carried system codes rather than readable place names. We built a custom mapping layer that translates these into clean, user-friendly strings, keeping the candidate-facing experience accurate regardless of the underlying data.

Candidate search and filtering

Roles are fully searchable by keyword across job titles and descriptions, and filterable by location, category and job type. Results are ordered by date posted and paginated, giving candidates a clean, manageable browsing experience whether Seasalt is advertising five roles or fifty.

JobPosting schema markup

Every role is marked up with structured data to the JobPosting schema, ensuring jobs are correctly indexed and displayed by aggregators including Indeed, Glassdoor and LinkedIn - important for a business hiring around 500 roles a year.

Site visibility and SEO

The site needed to be fully public and indexable from launch. As part of the project we configured it correctly for search engines, ensuring roles surface through organic search as well as job aggregators from day one.

Built to grow

Because we built the original Craft CMS site, the recruitment features were added as an extension of it rather than a new platform. Same CMS, same editors, more capability.

The challenge

The original site told the Seasalt story well, but live roles sat on a separate platform, so candidates had to jump between the two to find and apply for jobs. Seasalt wanted one public-facing hub where prospective employees could explore the brand, browse current roles and start an application.

The technical challenge was integrating with Dayforce, Seasalt's ATS platform, in a way that kept job listings accurate and up to date without manual intervention. Roles needed to be searchable and filterable, structured correctly for job aggregators like Indeed and LinkedIn, and the site needed to be fully indexable by Google from launch.

What we built

The expansion ran in two phases. A paid discovery phase gave us the space to properly investigate the Dayforce API, resolve integration questions with the Seasalt team, and produce a full functional specification before any development began - ensuring Phase 2 had no surprises.

The integration pulls live job data from Dayforce's Job Feeds API into Craft CMS on a rolling sync, running every 30 to 60 minutes. Jobs are stored as native Craft CMS entries, which means they behave like any other content in the CMS - searchable, filterable, and templated consistently - while remaining entirely driven by Dayforce. When a role is added, updated or closed in Dayforce, the site reflects it automatically.

Candidates can browse and search roles by keyword, filter by location, category and job type, and follow a direct link through to Dayforce to complete their application. No personal data is captured or stored in the CMS, keeping the integration clean from a GDPR perspective.

Ongoing support, maintenance and updates

We continue to support the Seasalt team on an ongoing basis, managing CMS and plugin updates, security patches, hosting and technical maintenance to keep the site and Dayforce integration stable and up to date.

The result

Seasalt Careers has grown from a brochure site into a single destination for employer brand and recruitment - one that keeps itself up to date, surfaces roles correctly to job aggregators, and reflects the quality of the brand. The Dayforce integration removes the manual overhead of maintaining job listings, and the Craft CMS foundation means the team can manage and grow the wider site content with ease.
